The Original Hard-Core Challenge, That's Still Very Rewarding On the Switch!

User Rating: 9 | Ninja Gaiden NES

Here we are, the intense platform game, that's been the BANE of MANY video game players, and a nightmare for even the MOST accomplished video game expert, the original "Ninja Gaiden" game, despite ALL it's difficulty, still remains in a class by itself, simply by virtue of the fact, that it managed to ELEVATE so MUCH of what makes video games what they are today, that it still DESERVES to be played today, especially on the Nintendo Switch! The graphics of this video game are SO good, they even reach early Sega Genesis levels at time, which is really SAYING something for the eight-bit powerhouse that was and is the original NES system! Also, the sound, music, and controls are all really good (though I could have lived WITHOUT the jump and attack buttons being reversed from what they normally are). Not to mention, this game might be one of the very FIRST video games, to actually feature cut-scenes within the video game, that help flesh out the story of this video game, and the cut-scenes feel like watching a very-well made Anime from the late 1980's! Ryu Hayubasa must hack, slash, cut, jump, and wall cling his way past six stages worth of enemies and bosses, carefully memorize the appearance of all the enemies, and carefully attack or avoid them, defeat several tough bosses, and on the Nintendo Switch, make VERY handy use of the Rewind Feature, and make the game FAR more forgiving and beatable than it was on the NES. It is still by no means an easy game, but it is well-worth it, to beat the evil demon mutant Jaquio, and rescue the love interest Irene. I highly recommend challenging this great platform game for yourself, to see what the experience is all about! Enough said, true believers!
