I am giving this game a 10 because it is amazing yet very simple compared to other games running on this hardware. The game starts with a storyline and then a map screen showing your relative progress. If you like tricky shooters in which you die from one hit, and can get power ups and boss fights and different level layouts, this is exactly that. Each level has 3 scrolls to collect; one makes you throw Uber shurikens instead of knives, another makes you faster, and the other I can't remember, but I think it's like collecting an emerald on Sonic - you need all of them. The shuriken upgrade allows the character to throw the shuriken through multiple enemies rather than the usual knife which stops when it hits an enemy. This allows you to rack up huge scores on your hit ratio! Since the enemies follow you blindly, you can run back down the level until they line up, and throw your Uber shuriken through all of them in one button press. Button 1 fires in the direction you are facing, button 2 fires upwards no matter which direction you face, and pressing them both together makes you invisible and indestructible for about 2 seconds. I used to spend ages on this game, and managed to get to the river level, and also some levels where stampedes were going on, and also some town levels. I still haven't completed it, but recently I got back into it. The boss fights are easy if you react well - simply dodge or use the invisible whirlwind move to avoid all of their weapons and other obstacles whilst rapidly throwing knives/shuriken at them. Piece of cake. However, there's usually loads of other goons to back them up, plus a lot of other things to look out for like boulders, returning boomerangs, water, stampeding animals etc. It's entertaining, provided you put in the effort to get good at it. Not for casual gamers, but then again, what Master System game is?
