I liked Nioh 1, all but the needed grinding. I dislike dying for nothing and do over. This is the very definition of wasting time and as much as i grow, time becomes more valuable and much harder to waste. So naturally i dislike games that you die that much. I completed 70% of Nioh1 and the reason i dropped it was because i reached a point, where i was good enough to handle everything on my level, but my efficiency helped me advance faster then the desired level, the game designers, felt that i ought to have. I am a perfectionist and i tend to be as efficient as possible. So i died countless times, till i was good enough and memorized everything. I completed all main and side missions and yet, that wasn't enough, i had to go back and grind more. And here is were the problem lies. Nioh 1 had an original story and atmosphere that gave me the necessary motivation to keep on fighting, no matter the odds. But fight just to grind, without story droplets, wouldn't do, so i quit.
Nioh 2 is more of the same, i died 70 times right in the first level and the purpose is to die some more, so i can level up. But the story here is not so interesting, the atmosphere, graphic engine and gameplay are more or less the same, there is no driving force, i dont won't to be a jokai, yet with without its powers, you can't go nowhere. There is only one way, one can play this game and untill you realize that, you understand how much of a waste it really is.
This feels like a an expansion, presented as a whole game, just for the cash on and as happens with the expansions, you don't get enough of interesting story, just more of what hooked you in.
The steelbook was decent, the art book sucked imo and the samurai uniform was not at all fitting for my female character. What a let down...
