A classic repackaged!

As a faithful survival horror enthusiast I haven't played a game like this in years, and it was extremely refreshing. The qualities which attracted me to survival horror gaming are present in Obscure the Aftermath, and executed magnificently. Firearms and ammo are intentionally limited, melee weapons are utilized, environmental puzzles are changeling, and the character death sequences are gruesome.

Moreover, Obscure included some variations which enhanced the classic experience. For example, a free roaming camera was added in open environments; however, the fixed camera is still present when tension is needed to heighten the terrifying experience.

The story is solid because it is purposely written as a teen horror movie to video game adaptation. I honestly can't remember the last time I played a game where numerous lead characters die, but again, this game parallels movies where this happens frequently, and by that merit it works fantastically well.

Overall, if you craving a classic survival horror game, but would rather not dust off the Playstation 1 and 2 classics, give Obscure: The Aftermath a shot. I think it will be worth your time.
