Obscure is a great B movie type game

Obscure is a fun and decent survival horror game that will constantly keep you on your toes. Play this game alone in the dark with the stereo speakers and you'll know what I mean. It's no Resident Evil but it holds its own, in terms of gameplay, ambience and great sound. Everyone knows the plot so I'll just review the gameplay itself, which, like I said is fun and decent. The overall setting is original although the concept has been seen and obviously used before, but Obscure gets a little more innovative, like co-op play. Which is a great feature and tons of fun, especially if you pick the least favorites characters that'll give you a harder time completing objectives. The idea of scarce ammo is also great, which forces you to be more conservative and not mindlessly shoot everything on site, giving the game a better challenge. The stereotypical teenagers is also refreshing and introduced for the first time in a survival horror video game, which by all means needs more originality. My only complaint is the story lenth, which is a bit short, and lack of more challenging puzzles. The graphics are better than average, with lots of detail to the environment. The lighting and shadow look fantastic as well. Even the character models look great, and controls well. All this if you have a quality tv. The sound is also spot on, with spooky noises, like wall banging comming out of the background, sending chills down your spine, great stuff here. All in all this is a great effort the developers had fun creating, and for the budget price it's a steal. If you take your time and enjoy the sight and sound this game offers, you will certainly have a blast playing. Add the stereo speakers and no one but yourself playing in the dark, I'll assure you'll have a freakish time.
