A Diamond in the Rough...

User Rating: 10 | Odin Sphere PS2
What isn't there to praise about Odin Sphere? Unlike most rpg's of the dying ps2 generation Odin Sphere has a total revamp of the classic rpg storyline. With plot twist after plot twist there's no way you won't get hooked after playing through a couple chapters of any of the 6 playable books. The graphics are amazing and while they drop down a notch for a 2D sidescrolling real time action rpg they are beautiful. The game play while it can have some slow down problems during major battles with multiple enemies otherwise runs without a hitch. The leveling up system I felt was particularly unique splitting your levels into psypher( strength) and hp levels. With the huge cooking and alchemy skills also there's plenty of added feature to the game. The only thing besides a little slow down that you'll find bad in this game may possibly be the loading time for each level but you'll quickly get past these points as you get addicted and can't put down the game until you beat it. Overall it's probably one of the last great games of the ps2 and I personally can't wait to see what else Vanillaware has instore for us.
