Simply brilliant, brilliantly simple...A beautiful game in every way. The power of sprites prevails over polygons.

This game is stunningly beautiful. It is a testament to the possibilities of sprite rendered graphics. It's basically a side-scrolling action game with RPG elements. Not a complex game by any means, the action is very simple but fun. The characters are very large and colorful and create a storybook cut-out feel. The use of parallax scrolling on the backgrounds adds the illusion of being in a 3D world but the action takes place on a 2D plane. The only thing I don't like is that the response time feels a little sluggish. Quicker response and tighter controls overall would really come in handy during fights when you are highly outnumbered. Anyone who appreciates aesthetic games must own this game; the attention to detail is amazing. Every bit of background has been given immense detail and artistic attention. I have a feeling this game will become very rare in the future. Personally I feel that this type of game and this level of sprite detail would be right at home on the Nintendo DS and I'd like to see a sequel or port to that system. This game is worth every penny for those who appreciate good sprite-driven graphics. Get it while you still can!
