There's a reason why you sometimes still see Hydro Thunder and not this thing.

I've only played this game a few times, and for good reason.

I was attracted to the series by it's predecessor, Hydro Thunder. Since Hydro Thunder was one of the best arcade racing games I had came across at the time, I thought to myself: "No Way! Those crazy bastards have done it again!" But little did I know, I'd soon be offset by disappointment after disappointment from this series that had great potential initially...

Similar to the original, the campy in-game voice made me smile as I gripped the wheel sitting in the race chair. But as the game began, everything about the actual game seemed to lack the excitement and thrill Hydro Thunder had.

It's hard to explain... It wasn't all too fun; though controlling your trucks and what had you through the tracks and jumps were great; but definitely not as exciting as running your speedboats through caves, off waterfalls, dodging buoys etc.

Also, Offroad Thunder lacked the same feel of speed that Hydro Thunder had as well.

I guess what I'm trying to say was that the overall gameplay was flawed, and I couldn't put my finger on why it felt lacking.

Eitherway, I wish I had spent my two quarters on Cruisin' USA, which sat right next to it, instead.
