Oh joy, what a pretty game. And with some depth and replay value as well. The story is fairly standard for an action/RPG, but the setting is different. While the game doesn't give a specific time frame other than a "time when people still believed in the gods", I would say a feudal Japan isn't far off of the mark. The game mechanics, especially the Celestial Brush, are totally new and quite nice. The enemies are pulled right from Japanese mythology and can be amusing while you fight them. The only glaring problems I have noticed is that combat is a bit too easy. Not all of the fights are, but on the whole it could have been a little more difficult. Also, it could have used some voice acting instead of the "wobble, wobble" noises they used. Some of the techniques that you can pick up are, to say the least, very unique. 2 come to mind right off of the bat, and if you have already played you'll know what I'm talking about. All in all this game has captured my attention longer than any in recent memory and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a good action/RPG.
