Okami is simply stunning. Some say that it is Capcom's answer to Zelda. You play as the sun god Amaterasu who is accompanied by a sprite artist (self-proclaimed). The story is pretty simple. There are entities that are spreading evil across Nippon (the game world, also known as Japan) and you have to get rid of them. What makes this game unique is the brush system that it uses. You hold down the R1 shoulder button for the world around you to become a virtual canvas. You then use the analog stick while holding down one of the face buttons to paint. You gain various abilities for your brush as you progress through the game such as making plants grow by simply drawing a circle, etc. The graphics are oozing with visual style. The characters and landscape look like they've been drawn manga style. The characters don't really talk unless you consider gibberish a language. This fits the style of the game just fine. Okami truly is the blinding jewel in the PS2's crown. A fitting game for the king of last generation consoles.
