One thing that Oni can brag about is the remarkable animation. The characters move so fluidly and so realistically.

Oni is a third-person "shooter" game, not unlike Heavy Metal FAKK 2 or Tomb Raider (no intention to compare the female heroines is purposefully made there... that comes later). You look over the shoulder at the world before you and you control your avatar from a third-person perspective. This method of play seems to be more in fashion lately, perhaps because people are starting to get tired of the endless stream of first person shooters that have innundated the market over the last few years... but more likely because Oni's unique combat style demands a vantage point that allows you to see what's going on from an over-the-shoulder perspective. Oni has the best third person camera tracking I've ever seen. Detractors may criticize the way that obstacles become translucent as they get into your line of view, but I personally couldn't think of anything more clever. Rune fans cite that the third person camera in that game is more "fair" in that you can't see things which aren't really in your direct line of sight, but I personally think transparent walls are a much better option over getting your butt kicked by an enemy you can't see.
