10 years after the Samurai Samanosuke Akechi defeated the demon lord, Nobunaga still has power and with the help of the demons is the most powerful warlord in Japan and that isn,t good. So his army attacks and destroys the Yagyu village and they kill everyone in it. Jubei Yagyu returns to find that his village has been destroyed and no surviviors. Jubei,s only wish is to get his revenge on Nobunaga but in order to defeat him he must collect 5 magical orbs and since he is half Oni he can use his power to absorb souls to defeat Nobunaga. Onimusha 2: Samurai,s destiny is much like it,s predecessor and shares most of the same qualities. This isn,t particularly bad. So if your a fan of the first you should try this but come to expect more of the same. Graphics are still awesome just like in the first game! Fine character designs, nice backround graphics, and awesome cutscene graphics! While spending your time with this game you will mostly be hacking and slashing your way through tons of demons and absorbing their souls.(Just like in the first game souls are spent to upgrade your weapons and other equipment. You still use elemental attacks just like before but some difference in the fighting is the Ogi energy you can use on your weapon to use a very strong attack, and the Onimusha transformation which can only be used when abbsorbing 5 purple souls and you will atomatically transform when the requirement is met. Still some puzzle solving just like before which can be both difficult and enjoyable. Come to expect more puzzle solving. Unfortunately Onimusha 2: Samurai,s Destiny isn,t much longer than Onimusha: Warlords if any longer and can be beaten in less than 10 hours by people that won,t have to much trouble with the sometimes frustrating puzzles and occassionally tough combat. The character you will mainly control is Jubei Yagyu. On some occasions you may play as Oyu a female warrior, Ekei a monk who is master of the spear and he loves drinks, food, and women, Magoichi the gunfighter, and Kotaro a Fuma ninja. In some way you are supposed to be able to switch to these characters. The characters are still awesome though. A pretty cool feature about the game is that you can buy gifts for any of these warriors and see what reaction they have to the gift you give them which is sometimes pretty funny and plus they return the favor by trading you items and giving you support in fighting. Unfortunately the characters other than Jubei and Oyu are rarely actually in the game. Onimusha 2: Samurai,s destiny is much the same as Onimusha: Warlords so if you liked the first then you should give this one a try. The story is still great and the combat is still good as well. So those who are fans of the first game or like hack and slash action for maybe 6-10 hours should like Onimusha 2: Samurai,s Destiny.
