A significant improvement on the original game. Great work from Capcom yet again.
Here in the sequel we learn of a samurai warrior named Jubei Yagyu who has returned to his home village only to learn that it has been massacred by an onslaught of demon soldiers lead by the inferious Lord Nobunaga Oda. Thus Jubei makes a promise that he wil take revenge on Nobunaga on what he has done and vows to defeat him.
Although this is more of the same that was in the first Onimusha the game promises much more than that. The opening FMV video is probably one of the best and coolest things that you have ever seen and really sets you in for what will be a rollercoaster of a ride from when you pick up your controller to when you put it down again after the ending.
Many good improvements have been made to the original such as a non-linear gameplay system whereas the characters you meet on your adventure and the way you react with them determines which course the game will eventually lead you. As well as that the weapons which you obtain through your quest are really cool and you can even power them up so that they become more powerful and efficient to use against your enemies.
But the main reason to like this game is the new trading item system that has been introduced. Say for example I had a Telescope that I collected at some point in the game I could decide to trade it to othere characters in return for an item of theirs such as a piece of grilled fish or even a fortune cookie that can increase you health depending on what message you get from it! This adds a really cool feature to the game and allows you to experiment with different items so you might even find yourself wasting time in your adventure tying to figure out which item is best to give to certain characters!
As I said earlier you can power up your weapons to make them stronger but also your armour can be upgraded to make it more robust and durable and coleect power jewels which can increase your maximum health or even some of your magic power thus adding a nice RPG element to the game. The characters you actually meet are also warriors ranging from the maverick gun user Magoichi to the skillful ninja character Kotaro and can help in many events such as when your fighting against demons and even help you against the bosses which are often difficult to tackle by yourself. In all this is a wonderful and joyous gameplay experience for anyone who has an interest in action or adventure games and will certainly not be dissapointed.
