It is an awesome game! But I wouldn't consider it as a real sequel to the other Onimusha games and specially 1 and 3.
If you are a fan of Samanosuke you will probably not like this sequel.
First of all, the main character is blond and doesn't really look like a japanese samurai… ‘¬¬ Secondly, he doesn't have that awesome shiny eyeball gauntlet that could evolve by adding souls. And finally.. the storyline is kind of…. How can I say?! Not exciting at all.
Well, well, the blond guy has an attitude… unlike Samanosuke the great samurai who goes strait to the point. I would say that he has a Dante’s attitude (Devil May Cry) which doesn’t fit to the game, he is even known as the blue demon, or something like that, at the beginning of the game. If you want a zombie blaster character that makes fun of every enemy that he encounters, it is best to stick with Devil May Cry.
The shiny eyeball gauntlet is gone… :( and specially the 3 main weapons. This blond guy has one main sword… and he can trade other swords…. The game still has the concept of evolving your swords by adding souls, but if you know that you will get better sword latter why would you waste souls??? This makes the game confusing. I still prefer the eyeball.
The storyline talks about some Genma trees that are being used by evil, so, logically you have to stop them. That is not really the point, the point is that you have 5 other characters to play with. In each stage you can pick one of them to join you. There are special places where only one character can go but almost all the time you don’t have the right one and you will have to replay the stage. This fact messes up with the story because you will be able to do a stage with a character that isn’t supposed to be there.
I almost forgot, the puzzles are much easier in this one. -.-
For someone who has never played an Onimusha game before: It is a great game! I’m saying this because he would not find that something is missing while playing it.
The graphics are sublime, the gameplay is as good as in the other Onimushas and the videos are great.
