A great game, with a few problems.

I walked into Onimusha: Warlords expecting perfection. I got a superb game, but it wasn't perfect. My biggest issue was the exclusive use of the directional pad, with no option to use the analog stick. Another issue I had with Onimusha: Warlords was the lack of variety in swordplay. Every combo was the same, with a power-play feature (in short: your sword and an enemy sword swing at the same time; push square as fast as possible to knock back the enemy and hit him) to add a little bit of fun.
All in all, Onimusha was great, but it left something to be desired. Rent it first.
