Hated it at first, but then learned how to play it!!

When I first started to play OF: Dragon Rising, I was disappointed. I couldn't seem to get my squad to listen to me. They were shooting when I didnt want them to... going where I didnt want them to. I couldn't seem to hit the broadside of a barn.
Then, I came to realize that this wasn't a typical shooter.. it was a special ops simulation. The key word here is "simulation". No running into an area and unloading clip upon clip into bewildered enemies. No pistol sniping from half a mile away. No attack dogs or attack choppers at your command at will. Its you, your squad and your gun. You might have support, but rarely will you know the right time to use it or where to use it. This is the first game where I actually had to USE the binoculars.
You will be directed what to do an given a way to do your mission. You do not have to do it that way. The possiblities of attacks are limitless only by what you can think of. Should I take my HMMVW in, or send my squad to flank the enemy while I suppress with my heavy gunner. Any way you want to, you can do it.
The ememy AI is very good.. most of the times. Sometimes they stand out in the open. Other times they crawl around behind trees and walls waiting to get an open shot on you. But they will...ABSOLUTELY will, flank you. I have never had so many enemies outflank me in ANY game. Even Brothers In Arms, which prides itself on supress and flank never did me in as many times as this game. You always need to be aware of your surroundings..always.
Should you get this game? If you have patience, dont mind missing a shot at enemies now and again..(yeah it does happen in the real world), and like to try multiple tactics to attack a mission this is the game for you. If you are the first one to run into a room to try and clear out the three enemies so your team can capture a flag, then no. You will NOT be able to run into any area without clearing from a distance, so trying is useless.
If you can be patient and learn to aim down the sights and use the notches for distance shots this game will just click for you. And to anyone playing and are frustrated...pick up the manual..it can help.
OF: Dragon Rising grew on me in a very good way.
