A wonderful story exploring moral dilemmas on top of a solid RTS game.

User Rating: 8.5 | Outpost 2: Divided Destiny PC
I'll start by saying Outpost 2 is not a real time strategy wargame. It's a space colony management system wrapped in an RTS shell, so while there's some combat, it's not the main focus of the game.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing both sides of the campaign (as the subtitle implies with "Divided Destiny"). All the missions had interesting goals and an excellent story. The scenarios typically had a focus on some aspect of the colony, such as reaching a level of science research or a colonist goal.

Sure, it did not have innovative gameplay nor fantastic graphics, but what it did it did well. It did introduce some features that even RTS's today -- in 2009 -- do not use, such as a day and night cycle, which is more pertinent to turn based games but adapted well for this RTS.

The package as a whole, combining the story and game was well worth the time and money spent on the game, and I don't understand why it was given such low scores.
