Frustratingly bare and simple

Nothing stands out here. The soundtrack is forgettable. The voice acting is as bland as you would expect from a game like this. Don't expect your socks to get knocked off here.

The game honestly doesn't look bad but it certainly doesn't do much to come off as unique. And considering how long it has been out (yes, I played it at launch and yes, I played it again recently), The fact that bugs are still a common issue definitely brings down this aspect of the game.

Gameplay: 5 out of 10
It's your basic shooter with easy-to-use cover mechanics. It's satisfying and can be mindless fun at times but after a while, it loses its luster.

Content: 3 out of 10
It's frustrating when you have numerous locations to go to on the map and ultimately only end up having to do a single story-based mission, if you're lucky a side mission or two, and a random animal encounter to cap it off. Some locations have more, others have less. I don't see the point in having over a dozen locations to go do if you do nothing with them. It's obvious that they planned to go the Destiny route, which isn't shocking since it inspired the game, and pad out the bare map with DLC only the game didn't take off as expected. Meaning that at the end of the day, we have a game that feels half-finished. The lack of content is very disappointing. We should have had much more than we were given.

Other:
I don't see why you have to always be online considering virtually nothing about the game screams that this should be a requirement. Playing with friends does little to add excitement and, if anything, nerfs what is already a very easy game. The story is too simple and uninspired, It is your copy-and-paste sci-fi plot we've experienced many times over. You can't place markers on the map, making it hard to go to navigate when you aren't going to quests, which is the only time the navigation works. Fast travel spots are too few and too far away, which pretty much forces you to run a good portion of the map to get to your destination.

Overall: 4 out of 10
Trying too hard to be a Destiny clone, Outriders ends up feeling like an unpolished, unfinished mess. Too often games try to fix everything post-launch and that is clearly the case here. After a short while, they simply gave up and the end result is a laughing stock that goes to show if you aren't able to commit the resources to put out content and fixes quickly, you are dead in the water.
