Oh yeah I forgot... I didn't like the original!
Well I once played the original Overlord and quickly got tired of the linear dungeons that the game was composed of. I don't know exactly why I was so excited for Overlord 2 seeing as how I hated the original but I was regardless. The game starts out dissapointing. I say dissapointing because your given a large amount of minions and I'm scared to believe they were showing off the maxium number (I have yet reached the maxium number in my game). The first moments of the Overlord were dulled down seeing as how I played them at least ten times in the demo. I would like to comment here the map IS COMPLETELY HORRIBLE! For all the trailers that made such a joke about "now with a mini map" the map is completely useless. Its to small to tell whats what or even where you are on it without close observations. Moving onto combat its enjoyable. The AI is absoulitely retarded though. Here are two examples...
I put my reds (ranged) infront of a group of legionare enemies (when I say infront I mean that if they wanted to they could reach out and touch my minion) now I place them right infront of them and for a good minute my reds just torch them up with the legionares not moving at all. Eventually their formation is broken and they all run around like headless chickens.
Second example includes the same scenario. I place my reds right infront of an legionare enemies. Now this time the legionares are charging me instead. I have my browns attacking them (melee) and I notice... no fire is coming at us. So I look back only to see my reds are more interested in a fluffy bunny a while away then the group of legionares slaughtering us. I actually died because the legionares overtook me and the reds never killed the damn rabbit.
Boat combat is kinda fun before it is actually brought into... quests? That is to say when you have one fight (boat fight) and then twenty minutes of sailing to the next location. only being able to land on specific preset docks.
I'm gonna end this review here since I want to get back to Overlord 2 myself :D It is by no means a bad game. It is a game that will make you talk to the TV asking how stupid it is though. I would suggest it to those who even didn't like the first like I did. Only thing I really hate is the horrible enemy attack animations really. An enemy blocking can block attacks that hitting him even if the blocking animation isn't happening so its hard to tell IF HES ACTUALLY BLOCKING :LDSJGFKAS
