Even for £4.99 PAIN is a real annoyance and is by far the worst PSN game you could possibly get. Not worth it.
PAIN has no story, just really a main objective, cause as much pain in the environment your in to environments, other NPC's and your player. Your player groans and complains when you get hit, but there is no blood or broken bones, the ragdoll system has been used in this game too, with a few adjustments. You can grab onto certain items and whirl them away and cause more damage. You can perform tricks in the air, although it does not have any effect on the game really, might get you a couple moree points but points don't really matter.
The graphics aren't the worst but are no way near the best for PSN, the best being Fatal Inertia EX. The graphics are about as good as any of the PS3's launch titles, which is good but not the best.
As for characters well there is only 1 character you start out with, if you want any more you have to go back to PSN and fork out another £1.49 just to get 1 more character, getting all of these will cost you about £14.99 which is a real pain, I mean why couldn't they just put all the characters into one game? The characters don't even effect the way you place, they might say random stuff but thats about it.
For gameplay after the first 30 minutes of doing free play you have done it all! If you experiment around enough you can destroy the environment nearly complete in that time and thats it. You'll laugh at it for the first 10 minutes then you'll just giggle for the rest, it's completely boring afterwards and really a waste of time. If this was for Wii I would be a lot more generous, I would have given it a higher score but not by much, but seeing as this isn't I'm being completely honest with you. If you want a game that will last you probably 10-20 hours of addiction and multiplayer, check out Super Stardust HD or Fatal Inertia EX, they are worth getting and even the demos for these games will get you addicted. This is my official worst PSN game period, probably yours. It is very easy to get used to but is very boring!
At the end of the day when watching videos of this you might be amazed, but when playing it you feel like completely the opposite, this is not even worth the £4.99 it is priced for. If you can barely get onto your PS3 and I mean like once every two weeks, then consider this if you dare, otherwise just look at what PSN really has to offer.
