Absolutely wonderful, but its RPG status is often thrown off with the Mario factor.

This game is absolutely amazing. It is a wonderful RPG for the GCN. The only bog problem I had with this game is that, because it's a Mario game, I had a tendency to forget that this game was an RPG therefor I forgot to do one important thing in RPG's. Talking to people. The gameplay is wonderful. As most RPGs go, you start out in a town, then after a bit of story you head out into the wild. You can see enemies and possibly go around them, or get a First Strike by attacking to start the battle. Be careful, because your opponents can also get a First Strike on you. The battles are involving, but after a while they may get repetitive, although the numerous number of attacks from badges and the ability to choose a party member greatly decrease any feelings of repetitivity (if that's not a word, I don't care). The graphics are absolutely stunning. The "Paper" is used to the full extent in this game, including when you hit a switch to make a bridge appear and it appears like flipping the pages of a picture book. The sound of the game is brilliant; it always seems to fit the current mood of the game. I would definitely recommend this game to fans of Mario and RPGs.
