Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door will drag you into an immersive story as Mario goes on a quest to find the 7 Crystal Stars.
Instead of the classic Mushroom Kingdom you will travel to the commerce center of RougePort where you will meet Lord Crump, a commander of one of the enemies you will face(The X-Nauts)...the other being once again, Bowser and Kammy.
After you battle Lord Crump aka THE BUH, you will meet the first of your memorable and not so memorable party members: Goombella, a sassy female Goomba. You will also come across a cowardly Koopa(sadly Kooper was replaced by this guy), a premiscious cloud spirit, a new-born Yoshi full of spunk, and a few more!
In RougePort you will travel around "over world" solving all sorts of mysteries, puzzles, and more but the real action goes on when you encounter your enemy! You will use RPG tactics and real-time elements to defeat your enemy, but this time...your partners have their own HP, and they can use items as they please. For added fun you have a crowd now watching your battle consisting of Koopas, Bob-Ombs, X-Nauts, Hammer Bros and even more! They will either go against you or help you depending on how good you battle. Some of these will always be against you though.
You will progress the same way as you did in Paper Mario, and getting the star from beating the unique boss of the area, some include a massive dragon, Tubba Blubba's possible cousin/relative, and a skeletal pirate. But the most unique thing about this game is alongside Peach's individual cut-scenes, Bowser will have playable and a rather humorous role in a Super Mario Bros style platforming level called Super Bowser Bros. These will be followed by a rather amusing cut-scene of him often doing something dumb or embarrassing like talking to Peach(so he can "rescue" her), only to be interrupted by a frightened and shocked Koopa revealing it's a poster/life posession...(I don't even want to know why he has a life sized poster of Peach)
The soundtrack is also quite enjoyable, and it fits each area/battle. There's so many wonderful pieces from the lovely Petal Meadows to the upbeat and cheery Glitzville theme.
This is defiantly the game to play if your looking for a good RPG or Mario series game. So if you like RPG's and Mario, buy or try out Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door!
