If you still have your N64, this is an amazing reason to dust it off.
User Rating: 9.5 | Mario Story N64
Don't always judge a game by its looks. Paper Mario looks all kiddy on the outside, and it is. But once you get into it, you don't get out. The story is decent, the traditional Mario-saves-princess-from-Bowser routine, but he does it in a very interesting way. The graphics are a revolutionary combination of 2D characters and 3D paper environments, which fold out. For example, when Mario turns around, you can see his paper-thin body spin, showing you his paper edge. When he enters a house, the house folds down so you can see inside. So simple, yet so beautiful to witness. Yet, this RPG sets itself apart from others, with an in-depth combat system, that at the same time is extremely easy to learn and play with. The action-command allows you to deal more damage, and reduce the amount taken, by hitting buttons at the correct time. Let's not forget the quirky humor! Once you get into it, there's an unnameable force that sucks you in and traps you, and it won't let go. I don't really know what keeps you coming back for more, and with 24+ hours of gameplay, I guarantee you'll enjoy every minute of this classic title.
