SquareSoft now called Square Enix developed this game in 1998. People wouldn't have expected a game to have an RPG and a mix of action. It was ahead of it's time. Parasite Eve has an interesting game play. You are able to utilize multiple weapons (i.e. handguns, shotguns) and kill enemies with them. What I didn't like about the game play was the option of changing controls. It was a shortcoming of the game. Another part of the game play was the amount of space one had to defend themselves against enemies. It's a dual edged sword. You have a enough space to kill your enemies but they can strike back at you as well.

The graphics were ahead of it's time in 1998. The CG quality is unbelievable, especially the FMV sequences. You can tell SquareSoft put some time in to the models. It's one of the game's strong points.

The sound is great. It has a creepy undertone, especially when it comes to exploring places. You can hear one attacking an enemy or solving a puzzle.
The music as well provides an ominous undertone. This just adds to the scare factor.

The value is really high in this game. Personally, an action oriented RPG from SquareSoft was a surprise to me. I gave it a high score because of how it was different from it's other games.

My tilt is more towards the game because I've played it for many hours. Yet, if you want something different from a Final Fantasy or SaGa game choose this one.
