I can see a lot of 1 stars from haters, that tends to happen to popular great things, you have people review bomb it. Anyway, I've played thousands of videogames, never played a Persona or Shin Megami Tensei game before, but kept hearing about this one being amazing from people who have played it, & also most critic reviews giving it a perfect score. Decided to finally try it out & oh my god, it absolutely lives up to the hype.
On paper it sounds like this wacky confusing game, highschoolers going into an alternate realty mind scape to change the hearts of evil people by blasting them with guns along with your sidekick cat ???? Yeah that's the gist of it, & it all works so well & makes sense when you're playing, everything is explained, everything is interesting, the combat, story, characters, music, are all perfect.
I only have 3 complaints, one is that Boss Battles require you to do certain things to win & I never liked that in any game, so I never enjoyed when I had to fight a boss, just had to slog through it & do what the game wants. 2nd complaint is you can't max out friendship with everyone, game has a time cycle where you have to plan out your days & time lapses when you hang out with someone or train a skill, so you have to pick & choose who you want to max out friendships to get their perks or date them vs skill training, there is ways to "get more time" aka BEFRIEND THE TEACHER FIRST, SHE IS EVERYTHING. But even then I was 1 companion short of maxing at the end of my game, at least you can get all achievements/trophies in one play through. 3rd complaint I wish there was more of the awesome anime cutscenes :( felt like such a tease there's only a handful.
