King kong is a very good looking game but the short campain and some bad character models hold this game back
Any way, in the game you play as both Adrien Brodys character Jack Driscoll, and as Kong. When you play as Jack its in full first person, everything you see or do will be through his eyes. The thing thats completley different from regular FPS's is that there is no aiming rectical what so ever, no health meter, and no ammo counter. To figure out how much ammo you have all you have to do is press the B button and Jack will tell you how man magazines/bullets you have on back up. Also ammo is so few and far between that if you just grabed a gun and tried to go through the game using only it you will run out of it quickly, so lucky for you theres enough spears, and pointy bones lying around to use.
When playing as kong though the controlls are completley different, kong can dash, wack, and grab enemies. the fact that you can only do a three hit samck combo could get repetitive but you only play with kong a hand full of times, plus your too focused on either protecting ann or trying to beat the crap out of your enemies that you really dont care. When you smack the crap out of the enemy enough you can grab it and do a finishing move by breaking the jaws on a T rex, or ripping the wings off a giant bat. There are some chase scenes that happen but since you just have to make sure your looking forward to jump that way you dont have to really worry about falling. Its pretty simple.
The faults with this game that i really have is the bad human character models. When they talk it looks like theve been liped synced and it creates this 70's kung fu flick type of dialouge, which looks really stupid considering so much of the backgrounds and enemies look so good that they would drop the ball on dialouge. The characters themselves look nice from far but far from nice. The closer you get to them the more you notice how ugly thy look and how jagged there faces appear. Also there are some frame rate issues when you play as kong, in the chase scenes or platforming scenes the frame rate ocassionally drops as he jumps from branch to branch. But thats about all the technical problems with the game.
the game is actually about 8-10 hours which is really short considering how good some of the parts are, and how the kong parts, especially the end level is really short. That plus the fact that htere is little or no reaplay value really hurts the game. If you can find it for cheaper than fifty bucks then go for it its a great game but really short.
