bottom line, this is a most own game.

User Rating: 8 | Phantasy Star Collection GBA
What can i say about this collection of old rpg classics? Only that it is the most enjoyable, long lasting, and downright fun, rpg for the gba.

PS 1
it tasks a little getting used to because of the rather old looking feel to it, but once you dive into the game and experience all of the really cool dungeon crawling and intense battles, you will really begin to love this game in particular. And not just because its one of the best games in the collections, but because of its rich cast of characters and involving plot that will suck you right in and wont let you go.

-The good
nice, colorful looking graphics.
-a pretty good musical score
-combat is fun and there is plenty of items, magic, weapons, and armor to find throughout the game.
- wonderful looking world to explore, and many other planets for that matter as well.
-long, involving quest

-The bad
-Dungeon crawling can be time consuming, do to the lack of a auto map.
-might need a walktrough to figure out what your supposed to do next. (but i did'nt have a problem figuring it out).

Now on to Phantasy Star 2
PS2 is one of my favorite games on the collection. It has improved grafics, sound, and gameplay which will will really appeal to fans of rpgs in general.

-The good
-Great music!
-Great graphics!
-Fun and envolving story
-Combat is improved over ps1
-Great cast of characters you meet in the game that help aid you on your quest.
-Longest quest of the 3
-Everything great about ps1, only improved and with more quality.

-The bad
At times, you might get frustrated with the random encounters.
Dungeon exploration takes awhile, but is still better then ps1's version of it.
-Might need a walkthrough at some points of the game.

Phantasy star 3
PS3 dosent really leave off where the preivious two games did, and that might start some confusion for new players. but all you have to do is think of this game as a bonus, or extra that has the same terminology, and same settings, and you will find alot to like about ps3.

-The good bottom
-the music is still one to love about this collection.
-combat however different from ps2, is still at its roots and as fun as it ever was.
-still has all the core gameplay of its predecessors.

-The bad
-a walk through is needed, unless you like to wonder around a world map for hours on end.
-confusing story line that has Nothing to do with the previous games.
-rather slow paced exploration and leveling.

All in all, this is still a collection that any gba fan should own. Again don't be thrown off by this game because its old school. Just come in to it knowing exactly what your going to get, and thats Quality, Value, and 3, if not 2, of the best rpgs of all time.
