User Rating: 10 | Phantasy Star Portable 2 PSP
First off let me start by saying don't believe any critic score lower than a 9 because just like monster hunter Im sure this will be way underrated but look at the user scores. Also it seems like GameSpot has it out for games on the psp unless there huge games like metal gear. How all those goods (even the story)and a couple bads that are no where near as bad as they make it seem equal a 7 doesn't make any sense. You can tell its rushed a review because they didn't even give it half the emblems/tags it deserved like the good story tag, fun multiplayer tag, oh snap tag, sucks you in tag, etc.

Ok, I must say though while I thought this game would be good it completely surpassed my expectations. Yeah the demo was fun but really how much variety was in the game remained to be seen plus the older phantasy stars while somewhat fun got kinda repetitive because it wasn't much variety besides loot. Well I can tell you on this game they didn't slack in any area.

The single player is amazing with likable characters and enough variety to keep you playing also this has a ton of missions. Plus each mission has harder ranks with stronger enemies and better loot. For example a mission has a C rank with no minimum level entry requirement, B rank you must be lvl 20+, A rank lvl 60+, and S rank your character must be lvl 100+. As you can see you're getting a lot of game already for the price. Each mission still varies no matter what the rank so even though one say B mission entry requirement maybe 20 the enemies could be lvl 45+ on that mission and 55+ on another. Plus when you play the mission at a higher rank enemies change somewhat and are stronger plus some mission seem to have so randomization to them (Ive done same mission on the same rank before and sometime the enemies that spun in certain areas in the mission are different). Also the character creation has a lot of variety. I promise you will never see a character that looks exactly just like yours. There are 4 worlds to explore in the game but each one has a ton of missions and you keep unlocking more mission on each planet the further you get in the story. Furthermore, though they are on the same planet each mission usually has a completely different environment and landscape. You might be in an underwater facility, a cave, a forest, a futuristic facility, all on the same planet each with different enemy types and music. Oh I forgot to mention these are just the open mission (side missions) you also have to story mission that have even more variety and story with them. Where you may meet new party members and do missions with even more variety. Such as protect some facility machines and mount a turret gun and blast away at incoming enemies. On top that the further you get in the story clients in the cafe will request special missions for you to complete each with rewards you can only get that way. You also have trade missions where you get to trade special loot for even more special loot. You get your own room to decorate with decoration you get from doing quests and earning new titles or buy at the store. You buy outfits that change your appearance or receive them as a reward. These outfit can even be very crazy such as a alien from suit where your character look like a huge from that say ribbit every so often. Combine this with dual saber in your hand and you see some humorous fighting situation.

The game is just constantly rewarding and has an epic amount content you will feel your playing a huge console game. It can easily last you 200+ hour depending on how much you want to play and this is just a single character (max lvl is 200 but that not to say you have the best weapons, armor, etc). 27 weapon types each with there on special skills you can equip on them. Literally a million weapons and armor varieties in the game. So rewarding and you level at a great pace where it never feels like grinding only time you think about your level is that you cant wait to go up a couple of lvls to equip this new rare weapon or armor you found.

The best part for many people is it has a full online multiplayer all you need is wifi and the key that comes with the game and you're good to go. PSN buyers don't even need the key it automatically registers. The online mode lets you choose hundreds of mission to play with friends or people online. Also you can do tactical missions which have way even more variety than the open missions. This is basically an action rpg/mmo in the palm of your hands that you can play anywhere there is wifi.

If you have a psp and you dont have this game something is seriously wrong. This ranks right up there with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Monster hunter as one of the best psp games of all time. In some ways its even better doesnt have the hard learning curve as monster hunter and has more content than Metal Gear Solid but all three should be in your collection.

In the end: Must have for rpg fans, mmo fans, action game fans, diablo fans, loot gathering fans, sci fi fans, and anyone who has a slight interest in playing an action game with a ton of depth and content. Play the demo and know your going to get 100x more content and variety than what you played then buy the game. You can transfer your character from the demo to so don't worry.Hope to see you online.
