The game that only few truly understood.

I don't expect anyone to purchase this game ever again considering that the multiplayer has been shut down permanently,. But i would like to express my feelings toward a game that i played for years. This game does have a simple combat system. It does have a story that you have to read practically everything. Almost all of its quests are essentially just walking arenas to kill monsters. The game has outdated graphics, a monthly fee, and didn't treat the Americans and our server equally. This game at first has turned off every single person i have showed it. Through determination i have gotten them all to try it, and over time fall in love with it. PSU is more than a game. Sure it has many "flaws" in today's game industry, but when has any of that decided whether a game is great or not? Statistics and features cant decide if a game is great or not, only the players can. This game is only enjoyable online, and is played best with friends. The reason this game was so perfect was that it was exactly what it seemed. An open world of nothing but friends and fun. The combat may be simple, but it is fun because you're not always focusing on just the fight. Sometimes you're watching your friends fly through the air while you blow everything up with a spell, or you're setting giant traps and just standing back talking about something random. The combat was simple but it was perfect. The offline story line i will admit is pretty boring. It truly is a great story if you're patient enough to even try it, but even i don't feel like playing that story ever again. The graphics on the game are outdated, they're very blocky and very basic. But as we have all seen from Minecraft, graphics aren't what make a game. Minecraft is a good game for the same reason of phantasy star. They are focused on the game-play and fun with friends and not just the modern day standards. The art for phantasy star is amazing and stands out because of the way the graphics are. The monthly fee was in place, as it is with many other games, because it served as a way for the company to continue work on the game and provide updates and new content daily. I personally feel from experience that games with monthly fee have a longer lasting, higher quality game-play. Before i played games with monthly fees i did not feel this way of course. M only true complaint about PSU was that the servers for the united states were unfair, and SEGA chose to treat the Japanese servers much more highly.I don't think any company should do this to any group of people. We are all customers and we all deserve the same product.
Phantasy star universe as a whole is one of my favorite games of all time. It is a great game and was greatly overlooked by many. It is a game that takes time and friends to make it truly great. But as it has always been said. The good things never come easy.
