A hard-to-find bowl of Mech goodness.

User Rating: 8.8 | Phantom Crash XBOX
First, to get it out of the way, if you are looking for a good, stor-driven game, search elsewhere. Now that that's out of the way, if you are looking for a fun, fast, easy-to-learn mech game for the Xbox, you came to the right place.

Does this differ from Mechassault? Yes. Very. Here, you get to build your own Mech, called a Scoobie, and outfit it with different weapons, legs, and bodies. Lets get to the review, shall we?

Gameplay: 9/10 The gameplay in Phantom Crash is great. While the difficulty may be hard at the beginning of the game, once you get to upgrade your Scoobie, it gets AWESOME! You win money from Rumbles. Rumbles pit you in an area of Neo Tokyo thats been run down, deserted. You face a neverending stream of opponents, but they are out to get each other also. Don't worry! The only part I don't like, is that to escape, you have to go back through the door you came in. This can be hard to do if you're Mech is about to explode with one more bullet. But there is a way around this. Each Mech has a feature called Optic Camoflauge. Hit the button, and your Mech turns invisible! Well, sorta. You can barely see the outline, but missles can't lock on! Solid Gameplay!

Control: 8/10 The Mech maneuvers pretty basic. Left Stick to control its movements, Right Stick to aim. It's the weapon buttons I have a thing with. X and Y fire the shoulder weapons, Left Trigger and Right Trigger control the arm weapons, B is Optic Camoflauge, and A is jump. It takes a little bit to get used to, but then it's second nature.

Story: 5/10 When it comes to story, Phantom Crash got left out of line. You have to have a pretty high tolerance rate for amazingly, i-can't-believe-they-put-this-in-a-videogame-let-alone-anything story. The story..well..heck, even I don't know what the story is! Good thing that's not what the game focuses on.

Graphics:9/10 The graphics are great! Not the best that the Xbox can go to, but certainly better than your average game. The explosions are nice, and the detail that the mechs give are very good. It almost feels like your in the middle of a Rumble!

Sound: 10/10 Im gonna split this into two categories. First, the sound. The sound of missles going off, bullets pinging off your mech, and the rip of a Mech sword all sound like they are from a big-budget movie. Intense! Now, the music. INSANE. You can purchase songs to listen to while while rumbling, and most are Japanese techno/soft rock. But, there are some gems in the treasure chest. Try Full Scratch. Many styles to choos from.

Replayablity: 10/10 There are three types of Mech's to choose from(light, medium, and heavy) offering three typres of playing! Lots of weapons to choose from, and tons of music to unlock!

Final Reccomandation: If your a hardcore Mech gamer(Mech Warrior), consider renting this. If you like a game with tons of customizable options, check this title out.
