Wow, Shigy has done it again. Pikmin is a load of fun to play. The gameplay is a nice mix of simple exploration and gathering, managing the Pikmin and playing to their strengths, while still imprinting a sense of urgency to the proceedings. It's an awful lot of fun to have brightly coloured slaves charging around behind you, performing the tasks you can't do, and you become very attached to your new pals.Put simply this game could be spotted as Nintendo from a mile off. There are additional modes opened up on completion and there is a certain amount of replay value, but Pikmin would have been a far superior game if it had only been longer and not so forcibly short. It looks and plays "next gen" and is a great example of innovation in gaming. The GC is still the owner of a void left by Mario Sunshine and while Pikmin wont keep you occupied for months it's still well worth a purchase.
