Good simulation of pinball but poor table selection.

To sum up Gottlieb Pinball Classics... it's not bad.

They've achieved a good simulation of pinball. The graphics are good (apart from the ball itself) and the physics of bounce and flip seem to be spot on. Ball speed seems to be a bit slow though.

The main downer of the game is the tables themselves. There's quite a good selection (11) plus 2 novelty games (a love meter and a crystal ball thing). 3 of the tables can be played for free but the others require credits which are gained by high scoring. Bizarrely the novelty games also require credits, which is just a waste tbh.

The problem is that the tables are "classics" or in other words old and basic. 3 or 4 are not bad but most are so old that they're nothing more than two flippers and a few bells. There's no really modern tables with todays pinball features. This means that you'll only really play on a couple of the 11 tables. Even the better tables aren't a patch on games such as Pinball Fantasies or Illusions (and they were on the Amiga!)

Control works well with the trigger buttons on the nunchuk and the wiimote as your left & right flippers. No fancy motion sensing is used thank god, cos it's just not needed. Sound is good if a little muted. Presentation is very well done with a history and original flyers for each table.

To sum up.. they've done a really good job simulating a pinball game - if they'd only picked a better selection of tables to simulate this would have been a top title.
