Get ready to defend your trible of people against hords of monsters wanting to visit.
PixelJunk Monsters has two settings. Single player and two player, and of course no online mode. Both modes can be fun, except at times single player seams a bit to hard and with too much to do. Two player mode is simply a blast and on top of things my wife even liked it. This game truely is for the whole family.
Getting started in the game will lay witness to lots of failures till you finally understand the concept of what your doing. You'll start out in a turtorial, which was a great idea to add to the game. From their you'll be given a map layout that will remind you of old platform days of Mario. Allowing you to pick which map you want to go to next. The first set you'll come up against will be easy, from their medium and later hard maps. Generally the monsters a tiny bit tougher in the harder levels, more of them and more waves of them. Easy might start you off with 10 waves of monsters where hard might get you with 30+ waves.
This bigger wave length allows you more time to collect eggs and upgrade your weapons as well. You'll start out with only three types, from their you can purchase up to six or seven m ore gun types. Whether you want more ground or air attack power. Each new map your guns reset back to the basic three as well.
As you build weapon towers, they are highlighted with flags showing what power level they are. The last flag color is black, which shows the tower is maxed out. Tower can be upgraded with eggs or by standing at them and dancing. They can also be destroyed for money. Their will always be a point near the end of a round to say get rid of a certain to focuse on other tower types on a final boss for each level. For example, air only weapons don't hurt any of the easy level bosses.
The art design in this game sucks you in, just as well as the gameplay does. Your character looks like a little tribes man. The monsters, and environments are easy on the eye's as well.
The controls are simple and to the point. You ever move around or hit X or O. Pretty basic.
ONLY negative on this game, is that their isn't more of it, more pretty variable levels. AND no online to play with friends with mics. It does support online leader boards though.
All togather this is a great PSN game, worth purchasing. I give it a 9/10.
