One of the best 10 dollars I ever spent this game is fun and very addictive
STORY:
the story is extremely simple zombies want to eat your brains and try to get into your house you plant different types of plants (yes plants) to try to stop them
GAMEPLAY:
The gameplay is a simple defense game where zombies spawn on the right side of your screen and you control all of the left screen you have 5 rows up and 9 or 10 across to plant your flowers to plant flowers you need sun (it falls from the sky every 30 seconds maybe) and to get even more you have to plant sunflower plants they generate more sun so you can plant more flowers you fight the zombies in 3 locations (front yard, backyard, roof) each with their own disadvantages and advantages like for example the backyard has a pool so zombies can swim to your house and you have to plant certain plants in the pool but the good news is you have various machines (like lawn mowers or filters) that kill the whole row of zombies if they got past your defenses (plants) but that only happens once per round so never rely on them too much also you fight in daylight and nighttime which both once again has advantages and disadvantages in the day time sun comes down in night time you have special plants that cost no sun to plant but they are only awake at night time
The thing that makes this game stand out from other defense games are both the plants and zombies they are both wonderfully done and both very creative the plants have certain attributes that make them powerful ally and the zombies have attributes that make them a powerful enemy there is a decent amount (not a lot but decent) of strategy in the game certain plants counter certain zombies for example there is a zombie that flies over your plants you need a cactus plant to pop the balloon or it will fly over and get to your house the game will make you think a bit and the game does show you before every round what type of zombie you will be fighting so you can pick your plants correctly because one zombie that you didn't prepare for can completely destroy you
Another aspect is the many modes first there is adventure mode it has a decent amount of levels and the more you play it the more plants and minigames, zengarden, puzzlemode, and survival modes unlock all these modes are fun and addicting they are more harder than the adventure mode and have certain challenges the zen garden is more of a plant sim (no joke) that you make money off of and you will play for some reason
the game loves money (fake money btw) almost everything costs money towards the middle of the game there is a man called Crazy Dave who owns a shop inside his car's trunk you can buy new plants or a new seed slot (a slot that can make you carry more plants while playing the game) or a new zen garden (you start out with one but you need two more for your night plants and your underwater plants) and all this costs a lot of money the main problem though is both the puzzle mini games and survival games don't pay much even when you beat it so you will be playing a lot just for some funds
The only problem I had with the game was the main mode (adventure mode) was never challenging sure the zombies were fun and made you think but there was never a time I was stumped my defense always held out and then if it didn't I always had my trusty lawnmower towards the final wave
GRAPHICS:
the Graphics are nice everything looks good in this game you can clearly tell the different zombies apart and different plants and everything is just nice looking even when every plant is firing and the screen looks like a mess you can still tell whats going on
SOUND:
the sound is good you can clearly tell when a zombie is eating a plant or when there is a huge wave coming down onto your lawn plus the music isn't annoying but not that catchy either
PRO's:
fun game, after beating it get a ton of unlocks that will keep you playing, only 10 dollars, some strategic depth, the game has a sense of humor, feels fresh compared to other defense games, once again I can't stress how fun it is
CON's:
the adventure mode isn't that challenging, when you beat the game you can play adventure mode all over again except this time its more challenging..whats the point?, the money aspect of the game needs to be improver when something cost 30,000 and then something else costs 25,000 and you need both and I only made 1,000 in a survival mode challenge, would like to see a endless mode where the zombies don't stop coming survival mode ends after a specific marker
OVERALL:
Overall I have to say the game is great anyone can play it the game is great for both hardcore and casual (no joke) and its worth much more than 10 dollars pick it up and see how you like it I bet you will play it longer than you want to
