So addictive!

The basics are pretty simple. The lawn serves as the game's grid, with each square of grass offering a spot for you to grow one of your various plants. Zombies shamble across your property slowly (though some move more quickly than others) from the right side of the screen. When a zombie encounters a plant, it'll slowly munch on it until it's eaten. If you allow a zombie to reach your house, you lose. Each level lets you select only a handful of plant types from your roster of over 40, and each plant does something special. The walnuts provide defense, for example, while the peashooters present offensive possibilities. Some, like the lily pads, simply allow you to grow regular plants on the otherwise inhospitable swimming pool. By the end of the game, you'll have needed to use just about every single plant in order to overcome each level's particular obstacles -- water, fog, pitch black, and slanted rooftops -- as well as the waves of zombies (around 25 different kinds!). Tired of zombies with ladders climbing over your defensive walnuts, or zombies with screendoors for shields? Plant a magnet-shroom and have it rip the pesky tools out of their hands.
