There's almost no fun to be had in Play Action Football.
The visuals are bland, there isn't any detail to the player sprites, and the field is just composed of lines and such. Its a sub-par game visually for the Gameboy.Though, there are some pretty cool looking 8-bit cut scenes.
The sound is pretty good, and probably the best part. The soundtrack is funky, totally themed correctly, and kinda gets you pumped to watch a football game, which is good, and there are a variety of beats in the game.
The game play, this is where the game sorta flopped for me.You are given a variety of plays to use with your specific team, but then make almost no sense, and you'll constantly end up just picking any random play. The actual game play though, consists of you running around with the ball gaining yards, getting tackled, and scoring a touch down. This in itself,is pretty decent fun.The rest feels underwhelming.
Final Verdict:Play Action Football is a fair game, and provides a small amount of fun.It just feels dated really. This is a game only for those who can accept the ancient style of this football game.
