Got the beta, and boy do I regret even spending the time to download it. First off, the character customization is pretty lame. There isn't enough variety in how you can make your character look, and therefore it's pretty hard to make a character look just like you, or make a character that looks totally outrageous, the Miis and the Xbox 360 avatars did this much better. Also you have to pay for EVERYTHING. Want some new clothing for your avatar? Pay for it (real money). Want some furniture in our apartment? Pay for it. Want your little avatar to enjoy having a bag of chips in his fridge? (Who the hell puts chips in a fridge anyway?) Pay for it (50 cents, real money, for a virtual bag of chips, am I the only one who finds something wrong with that?). If you are not dumb enough to spend any money on clothing for your avatar, congratulations, now you look like at least 3 other people you will meet in the first 5 min of playing.
This is supposed to be a place where you can hang out with friends and chat and play games, but unfortunately the chat is so badly designed that you will never know when one of your friends says something, because some else's speech bubble will always cover theirs.
Now what is there to do in PS Home you might ask. Well, pretty much nothing. There are a couple of games to play but you have to wait in line for all of them. If I wanted to wait in line to play a game I wouldn't have my own PS3 would I? Other then that you can wonder around the virtual world for about 20 min until you get bored and sign out, and then realize that you just wasted an hour of your life that you will never get back.
Shame on you Sony for spending 3 years on such a lame product instead of releasing more games. Shame.
I got my PS3 and played MotorStorm right away. I saw the HOME icon but put little attention to it "I´ll check it out some other time" When I finally did it, first thing came to my mind was something like "looks like ... Read Full Review
I suppose writing a review for a "game" that's still in a form of Beta is a useless project. But I have all the time in the world to rewrite this once I see any real change or improvements. Basically PlayStation Home... Read Full Review
