The worst Pokemon game I've ever played. I actually like the Pokemon RPG's very much, but this game isn't appealing.

Gameplay: This is the first time we've seen a Pokemon RPG game come in 3D for the consoles. While some of the process worked, the different type of gameplay and the way the game feels really hurts on what I think of this game. You start out as playing some anime-drawn teen when he steals some sort of Poke-Ball that can capture dark affected Pokemon. Afterwords, you encounter a female sidekick, and then you start on with the game. Pokemon Colosseum features RPG, and puzzles like the previous Pokemon games. The Pokemon battles, however, are slow paced and uninteresting like the old school battles. During the rest of the entire game, you'll unlock a story figuring out what goes on. The game also has no Pokemon hunting that was in the previous RPG's. Instead, when you are battling trainers, you have to steal their Pokemon with your dark balls, if the Pokemon is dark-effected. This takes out the old hunt feel that was popular for the previous games. After I played the first hour of the game, I knew that this game would really suck. It's slow paced battles and frustrating puzzles prevented me from enjoying this highly anticipated game. Graphics: At least the graphics aren't terrible, but they aren't beautiful ether. The textures are pretty bland, and the special effects in the Pokemon battles actually aren't as good as the game's semi-predecessor, Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2. I don't really like the atmosphere of the game, starting out in a desert and all. Personally, I didn't find anything appealing about the games graphics. Sound: The Music also isn't as good as the previous Pokemon RPG's. The songs in the game are a "been there, done that" feel. There's nothing creative about the game's music. The Pokemon still have the Game Boy voices that really plague the sound work in the game. The game also features no voice acting. Now, I know Nintendo doesn't use voice acting much, but they could've at least make the characters make some sounds, but nope. Instead, Nintendo gives us on-screen text only, which doesn't feel right for a 3D game like this. Overall, the sound is mediocre. Conclusion: I was highly looking forward to this game, hoping it'd be great to see a Pokemon RPG in 3D for the first time ever. Instead, Nintendo takes things in a different direction that hurts the way I play Pokemon games. Hopefully, the next time we get a new Pokemon RPG for the consoles, that Nintendo does it right. Other Pokemon fans should rent this game if they're still interested in this game. I really wouldn't recommend buying it first. I felt ripped-off when I bought this game. Now I sold it and I hope to not play this nightmare again.
