Overall a great game with a pretty good storyline and concepts that make it unique from other Pokemon games

Pokemon Colosseum is definitely not like the many handheld Pokemon RPG games that may come to mind. Instead, it is a creative take on the traditional catching and training of Pokemon. Pokemon Colosseum still retains many of the elements that define the Pokemon games such as type match-ups and training and battling Pokemon. However, Pokemon Colosseum introduces a new kind of Pokemon called Shadow Pokemon. What makes them unique from the other, regular Pokemon that you will see in the game is that these Pokemon will only know one typeless move called shadow rush. You have to battle with it causing a purple bar to gradually lower until you are able to purify it and make it normal again. What really blew me away was that you actually steal these Pokemon from other trainers in a process called "snagging". Overall, I think that the developers did a great job on most aspects of the game; however, I was slightly disappointed in the fact that, with a few exceptions such as Espeon and Umbreon, you could only get shadow Pokemon and could not catch any wild Pokemon and thus limiting the amount of Pokemon you can get in the game. I did like the fact that you could trade Pokemon from Pokemon Colosseum with Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red or Leaf Green. While, in my opinion, this is not necessarily the greatest Pokemon game ever made, it is definitely worth playing especially if you are a fan of the series.
