For the people who just review because it looks bad, the game is not what it seems.
User Rating: 7.9 | Pokemon Colosseum GC
Many people, I can tell obviously did not play Colloseum. Some people have given it a 3.7 and some gave it an outrageously high rating. Gamespot doesn't deserve an criticsm on their review because Colloseum is a very good game. Let me tell you why. Gameplay: The game is a very slow game. When you battle, it takes about 5-6 seconds for each pokemon, taking 30-35 seconds out of the game. That could be an improvement to fasten the pace. Also, the game get's repetitive. Just fighting people and going around to kill the Cipher team is really time consuming. Yet, this game is extremely addicting and I played more than 10 hours straight on this game. The controls are well adjusted for your playing needs. Graphics: The simple, mildly animated trainers are very... odd looking. Polygons are very apparent and shadow texturizing is very obvious. Yet, the bump mapping on the pokemon give it a shiny feel to it. Rather than seeing solid color GBA pokemon, you can finally see full animated 3D pokemon with amazing visual effects. Sound: The environmental sound is extremely well executed. The sound is much better than N64's sound track. Some parts are obvious that it is orchestrated, which is a good thing. And the MIDI parts sounds very very nice. Well executed and well displayed. The music and effects are emphasized for your pleasure. Value: As much as you think this game is bad. Trust me. This game is amazingly addicting and fun if you want it to be. It's an extremely well made game, while it could be much better, it's good as it is. It's worth 50 dollars. Luckily, the game is not 50 dollars anymore. You can get it for 20-30 dollars now. It's a good buy and a great game filled with 20-30 plus hours. The only downside to the value is that to play multiplayer, you need to have link cables from GBA to gamecube. It's a nuisance and a waste of money. Overall: The graphics may not appeal to you, but at least play more than half the game why don't you? This game is a great game and deserves every bit of a good compliment anyone can give. While it has many improvements to achieve (hopefully in the sequel) the game is still very well executed and the graphics are better in the middle to the end of the game. It's a very nice game to just sit down and get addicted to, regardless the slownees of the game or the graphical display. It's a great game.
