Pokemon Gold is the successor to Pokemon Red/Blue and it doesn't dissappoint. Sure it's pretty much the same thing as before but what's wrong with copying a game as good as its predecessors were? Gameplay - 10 Let's see, copying a game with phenominal gameplay, but adding several new rules and a hundred new pokemon...nope, nothing wrong here. Graphics - 7 Okay, so the game isn't going to wow anyone. It still looks very nice and it's distinctly improved over Red/Blue Sound - 10 Excellent mix of old and new pokemon tunes. Pokemon get new sounds as well Value - 10 So I didn't spend half a thousand hours on this game, so what. 200 is still quite a bit don't you think? Reviewer's Tilt - 10 Not as breathtaking as Red/Blue, but this game still deserves a ten since I wanted to give Red and Blue a 20.
This game has a great RPG formula that works on all fronts and it doesn't have any issues just because it's handheld. The Pokémon series, I suppose, is quite revolutionary, obviously there had been RPGs before ... Read Full Review
