Its a remake, and has good flare but really the old one is just as satisfying.

Now i Anticipated this game highly as gold was my favorite of all the games they made. And when i heard heart gold was on its way i couldnt wait. but now that i have played it through caught a lot, and paid my dues, it was a little bit of a let down. now im not saying its bad but it wasnt really updated aside from a graphics polishing and a few new perks. Now for one big point as to why this game only recieves my non amazing score is that when pokemon was first made it was geared to very young kids, i happend to have just turned 8 at the time. now the games leveling system was ok then but now with all the fans all growed up, the elite 4 being in the 40s and 50s is a little funny. Firstm of all the wild pokemon are all very low even once you enter the new region in kanto. this to me is a little odd that they did not fix this as leveling your pokemon is not just difficult but romedial and redundant. because what hapened is they updated the experience rate needed to level so that its similar to newer games but the pokemon are still designed for the old system, this makes your gameplay a huge wasteful grind fest that is nowhere near as satisfying as other grind games. Its more or less just a bit piss off mood fuel. So instead of playing through the game and raising your party to bad asses your stuck in moments of fighting very low level pokemon and recieving tiny bits of XP so that it takes around 50 battles to raise one levlel in your 30s. Level 30 pokemon should not be forced to challenge level 14s in todays XP system, at least give us 25's like diamond and pearl. My judgment says to buy the old version, youll have more fun.
