Pokemon Blue, a game that every Gameboy owner should atleast know the name of. When I was just a little kid, my aunt bought me a Gameboy Color and a game to boot! I picked Pokemon Blue. I don't know why, maybe because you just HAD to own it, it was a game based on an anime! And luckily, it's what raised me to become an RPG lover, both turn-based, and real time. Pokemon Blue is one of the best games in my opinion. Now for the storyline, you've got a 14 year old boy moving to Pallet Town. He's just became old enough to start competing for badges. Once he get's 8 badges, he can continue onto the 'Elite Four'. They're supposed to be the strongest Pokemon trainers of all, but you better show them wrong! Anyways, he's moved to Pallet Town. You want to see Prof. Oak, a famous Pokemon professor. He's did much Pokemon research, a breakthrough at the least. But where is he? He's not at his house..better just go into the wild and get killed by some random Pokemon! XD So as soon as you walk in, Professor Oak comes to the rescue! (More like ruining all of our fun) He starts lecturing you, and he takes you to his lab. He talks about some stuff, run him an erring, and he gives you a Pokemon of your choice! Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squrtle. Choose wisely. Don't get the game for a great, super anime storyline. It kinda follows the anime storyline, but it's a little different. No Misty or Brock. (Well, not in your party that is ;)) I really can't judge the storyline too much, but you'll be too interested in training your Pokemon. The music was the best music IN THE WORLD I've ever heard to date.I know I sound like a crazy person who never sees the sun's light. Well, you're right. So there ya go. :P Surprisingly, the best music is at the start of the game, Pallet Town. The music is very catchy. I'd love to find a soundtrack, I might look on Amazon.com or Ebay later. Sure, on Gameboy Color it was all Blue colors. So? At the title screen, you could push your directional pad and stuff to change colors. You've gotta admit, that gives you a lot of choices for the color(s). The graphics obviously deserve a high rating, I loved the graphics normally. The other characters even moved! That's pretty cool for a Gameboy game. The multiplayer is one of the best features. I mean, one player is fantastic. But multiplayer, oh no, it's better than that! It's a 12 out of 10! And using multiplayer is the only way to get every Pokemon without cheating. On the topic of getting every Pokemon, that's the main flaw of the Pokemon series. There's always that special Pokemon, like Mew or Celebi you can't get without visiting a special promotional event. Still, I wouldn't focus on that. I didn't for sure. Replay value isn't too good. I mean, if you beat the game, you WANT to keep that game saved. It's pretty hard to get back. But there's still a little replay value, since you might wanna try different Pokemon. Different starting Pokemon, maybe even different move sets for the Pokemon! Plus there's always new friends; new multiplayers. :P Anyway, this is one of the best games yet. Otherwise, I'd be crazy. I'd never be playing turn based games at all. Just remember, even though a game's old/looks childish, it can still be a great game!
From the 16th July 1999 to early 2003 this game stole all my free time. I mean every minute of my free time. On the first day I got it, my Squirtle was a Blastoise. That's just how hooked on it I was. It is the ONLY game... Read Full Review
