Pokemon Red (and Blue) was probably the game I loved the most. Between the two versions (I like Red better cuz red is my favorite color) I must have spent somewhere between 300-500 hours beating my friends and catchin' em all. Gameplay - 10 Battling pokemon, catching em, exploring caves and abandoned buildings. I don't think I was ever bored playing this game. There's just so many pokemon that no one playthrough ever feels the same Graphics - 9 Really the only non-spectacular part of the game. The art in the game is really good and it has excellent level design. But, in the end the graphics are rather simplistic, though very smooth, since it is a game boy game and sometimes it was hard to see what was going on if I wasn't playing in good lighting (though this is more a fault of the game boy than the game itself) Sound - 10 Great tunes strewn throughout the entire game. They were at the perfect volume, always capabe of maintaining the mood of the game without being invasive. Plus, every pokemon had its own sound. Value - 10 Best $30 I ever spent. 50 hours per playthrough and so many reasons to keep on playing even after that. Reviewer's Tilt - 10 What else can I say. It may just be that I've gotten older but I've never been so absorbed in any video game either before or after pokemon red & blue (even the later versions).
