The popular Pokemon series makes its way onto the Gameboy Advance
Well the basic story line in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire are nearly identical to there predecessors, essentially you start of as normal with a dream to become a Pokemon master and then you get to choose 1 of 3 Pokemon from the town’s professor in this case Professor Birch. The 3 Pokemon you can choose from are all totally new.And they are Treeko, the grass pokemon, Mudkip, the Water Pokemon and Torchic the Fire Bird Pokemon. Each of these Pokemon are totally unique with there own statistics and there own move set.Similar to all of the Pokemon games there will be a trouble making group or team that plan to do no good. This time around you have a choice, if you choose to buy Pokemon Ruby a team called Team Magma will be your enemies but fortunately another Team called Team Aqua will be helping you along the way or if you choose to buy Pokemon Sapphire it will be Team Aqua opposing you and Team Magma helping you.
Over the coarse of the game you will have to compete against gym leaders. If and when you beat these gym leaders you will receive some cash, a useful TM and most importantly a gym badge. You will need 8 of these gym badges to compete in the Pokemon League, The Pokemon League is where you battle a series of 5 powerful Pokemon trainers who are called the Elite 4.If you defeat the Elite 4 there is someone even more powerful waiting for you.
There are also minor differences between Ruby and Sapphire.Along with the whole Team Magma and Team Aqua thing there are also a few differences in gameplay aswell. These aren’t major differences though the biggest difference I can think is that there are 5-10 exclusive Pokemon in each version. This means that if you want to get all 200 Pokemon you will have to either have a friend or a relative with a different version or (God forbid) you will have to buy both versions.
As far as presentation goes Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire have some of the best Gameboy Advance graphics and decent sound to boot. You might remember that in Pokemon Crystal for the Gameboy Colour that there was a nice graphical effect where when you started a battle the Pokemon moved around well unfortunately that same effect doesn’t happen at all in Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire(they will in Emerald though). The sound really hasn’t changed that much at all and wether that’s a good or bad thing is a matter of opinion.Fortunatley the sound isn’t really that bad that you have to turn the speakers off or anything but some variation would have been nice but what we have here is good If your looking for a long lasting Gameboy Advance game that will keep you coming back for more look no further than Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, however this is not really a game that you could play for 4 or 5 minutes at a time but at the same time it is easy to pick up and play for 25 minutes to 2 or so hours at a time.If you have played a Pokemon game before and are good at RPG games, Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire is around a 25 hour game.
It isn’t hard to see why The Pokemon games are some of the best on the Gamboy Colour and now the Gameboy Advance.Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire are not only two of the best RPG games on the Gameboy Advance but some of the best games on the Gameboy Advance. And if you have played and liked the other Pokemon gamesa this game will be perfect for you, and if you haven’t played any of the other Pokemon games now’s a great time to start playing them.
