The old formula, pokemon, gym battles, trainer battles, and everything else from ruby and sapphire are rolled together in one more full-priced game. Some additions to the game were annoying, however. The green everywhere made me afraid that my GBA may not be able to show other colors. The menu, trainer card, and even the character got green makeovers, and it isn't very appealing.
It's fun, but nothing new. Hardcore fans would like the new features, although it's just not enough to keep most people entertained for very long, especially those who have played through Ruby and Sapphire.
The game is good, and fun at times, but doesn't warrant a new purchase.
