One of the strangest, yet surprisingly good, Pokemon games.

I am not really that big on Pokemon. Granted I did like the show when I was a little kid, but now it's just annoying. But that's not what got me into Pokemon. It's the games I enjoy the most. The ones featured on the GameBoy still remain my favorite of the series. As if the series wasn't strange enough to begin with, there is actually another Pokemon game where you actually don't go out to capture the creatures, but rather you take pictures of them in their natural habitat. As strange as the premise is and that it strays from the gameplay we were so used to, this is actually a very good game and is one of the best games you can get for the N64. Of course, fans of the series will immediately feel right at home here. Even those that never really cared for the series, like myself, can actually find something to like about this game.

PROS:
-Very beautiful, lush, and detailed graphics for its time
-Animation is solid throughout and everything retains a steady frame rate
-Nice music and wonderful sound effects found from the anime
-Creative habitats for the Pokemon to live in
-A variety of ways to interact with the Pokemon
-Lots of interesting secrets
-Lots of Pokemon

CONS:
-Incredibly short
-Only seven levels
-Only 63 species of Pokemon

Again, I'm still not the biggest fan of the series. But if you can recall from my 1080 Snowboarding review, there are definitely games that I think are out of my interest that I may actually enjoy. And this is one of those games. It is a really strange, yet ingenious concept. I loved the game as a kid and I still love it even to this day. For Pokemon fans, it is a must have. For others, this is still worth a look.
