A fun Pokemon game, this game is a true must for any Pokemon fan, especially with a transfer pack.

When you look at the Pokemon gaming series, which in my opinion, is the one thing that is even keeping Pokemon in particular alive, there are actually quite a good amount of fun games. The most famous are the Game Boy Games, namely the metallic and colour games. But when you look at console games, in my opinon, there is one "series" which stands above the rest. Those games are the Pokemon Stadium games. And out of the two, Pokemon Stadium 2 is the better one.

In Pokemon Stadium 2, there are quite a few game modes. You can do battles with a friend or more, or just the computer, in just a battle. You can select your stadium and such, and you can rent Pokemon, and then do a battle. You can even transfer your party from Gold or Silver and play it there! (If you do this, your Pokemon should be at level 100). This is the mode I prefer doing, since you can do a battle right on the spot, or even re-create some of the famous battles in the shows or games.

You can also play in the Stadium. In this, you take your team to the top by choosing your party depending on the gaming mode, and defeat all 8 trainers to win. You can only choose three Pokemon to go to battle, though, so you need to pick carefully.

You can also clear the Gym leaders. In this, you choose a Gym, defeat the normal trainers, and then you eventually fight the gym leader. This is a very fun mode if you are sick of fighting Gym Leaders in the game. Like the Stadium, only three in a battle.

There is also a training school, where you can do practice battle to reflect what you learned in the teachers lectures. Useless for expert trainers, it can be useful for rookie and novice trainers. It isn't anything really new, and it can seem like a dictatorship sometimes, fighting the way the leader tells you.

There are also a lot of mini-games that can be played with Pokemon. Some are fun, while others are boring. This can really burn off time, except if you prefer battling and such in Pokemon. The best ones are Scyther/Pinsir's log cutting, Chansey's Egg Catching and Mr. Mime's Barrier ball. I don't remember the exact names, and am too lazy to check them out.

And there is also one fantastic mode to play with. If you have a transfer pack, you can put Gold or Silver in (I've tried Crystal, and it works, but it takes so long to load) and play your game on the TV. It is really fun seeing your game in larger view, and if you have brothers/sisters/friends who love to watch you play, you have a lot more room, instead of being crowded around on the couch.

The gameplay is simle, yet not shallow. You can pick your Pokemon and use their moves in battles. You can just pick and fight, or even pretend your a trainer in a different land, and battling Pokemon Trainers as they come along. Sounds weird, but I enjoy doing it to burn off time. You can also do tournaments, Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, but is best as just a basic battle.

The graphics are also pretty decent. In my opinion, they're around average at their time, not revolutionary, but also not bad at all. It is for the most part 3D in battles, and the Pokemon looks like they do in the TV show, and it is fine. The stadiums that you play in are also well done, from a basic place to a Gym leaders floor and the Elite Four's rooms and even in Team Rockets layer really adds a different feeling to the game.

The sound has a couple of extremes. All of the Pokemon have their own cries, as well as many different FX sounds on the battlefield, and I think that these sounds are great. However, the music on the battlefield is terrible. I can't stand the music, and hit myself just thinking about it. You have your opinon on it, I hate it. Choosing better music would have made this category better.

The value of this game is also your opinion. You may get bored of the same thing over and over, or you make like playing all these different battles. This is depending on your choice, but I personally do find the game worth it simply because you can do a bunch of battles on the big screen, and do these little "pretend adventure" things without worrying about potions, wild Zubat, Tentacool etc.

Overall, this game is very worth the money to buy. There are tons of gameplay modes, and with a transfer pack, it is second to none in N64 Pokemon games.
