An infuriating, but oh-so-cute little game.

I'm usually not so keen on puzzle games, but Polar Panic had a nice wintry theme that felt appropriate for the Xmas holidays. You play as Polar the Bear, who must take down the evil Globalco and their chairman Mr. Big when they invade his wilderness home, turning it into an industrial nightmare.

There are several ways to play Polar Panic. My first play-through was merely to obtain the gold trophy rewarded for finishing. The second time around was to free all Polar's friends and snowmen (it saves and updates your scores), third was merely to unlock insane difficulty, and fourth to receive the insane trophy. A puzzle mode offers 50 taxing physics problems for polar to solve. Most are easy but some are real brain-melters. A survivor mode offers a couple of extra trophies too, but I found this to be extremely hard, even on easy mode.

If you're an impatient gamer then Polar Panic will really annoy you. More so if Polar's inability to quickly get around corners is likely to make you explode (like me). I can't tell you how many times I just felt like chucking the control pad against the wall.

Otherwise, a fun game.
