A pretty fun and original pool game hindered by its terribly slow pacing.
The graphics are original and colorful, you can easily switch between different views. The players have not much detail, all you'll ever get to see is their chopped off hands flying as if magic. The game has many nice little details that will make you smile, or at least they try to. The game features solid ball physics, even when you play on the Moon.
The music is relaxing and fits the sabbatical ambient of the game perfectly, the effects are few as expected in a pool game but do their job well.
The game modes included are; Competition, in which you can challenge individual players and sometimes enter tournaments going up the ranks. Crazy Tables, where you can play in nonstandard pool tables. And Practice, the name is self-explanatory. You can have two-player mode in all of them, to have the most fun and save the waiting time. There are many different pool game rules, at least as many as a dozen.
The tedious pace can become exasperating. It takes the CPU controlled players up to a minute and a half per shot. You will need a lot of free time and the patience of a monk to play against the computer without having the desire to smash your console in a rage of helpless frustration. And you better have something else to do to keep you busy while you wait for the computer's turn to end. So sit in a comfortable chair and get a good book, a drink and some snacks to while away the time. This made me subtract one point from the final score.
It's a pity because had the single player been more dynamic the game would deserve at least an 8/10 score.
Overall, this is arguably the best pool game on the PS2, charismatic, fun and original, it will keep a special place in your collection.
